Student Loans
Federal Stafford loans are the most common type of loan for graduate and undergraduate students. There are two types of Stafford loans available:
- Subsidized: If you demonstrate financial need, you can apply for a subsidized Stafford loan. The government pays the interest on subsidized loans while you are in college.
- Unsubsidized: If you do not meet the financial need eligibility requirements, you can still apply for an unsubsidized Stafford loan. With an unsubsidized Stafford loan, you are responsible for paying interest that accrues while you are attending school. However, you have the option of paying the interest while you are in school, and this will save you money in the long-run.
In addition, Graduate PLUS loans are also available for graduate/professional students. Graduate PLUS loans can be used in addition to other forms of financial aid such as Stafford loans.
